Organophosphorous pesticide removal from water by graphene-based materials - only adsorption or something else as well?

چکیده

The extensive use of pesticides requires innovative approaches to remove these compounds from the environment. Carbon materials are traditionally used as adsorbents for removing pesticides, and development new sorts carbon allows more advanced in environmental applications. Using density functional calculations, we have predicted chemical reaction between S(O)=P moieties organophosphates with point defects graphene ? single vacancies, Stone?Wales epoxy- -groups. was confirmed using ultra high performance chromatography two oxide samples dimethoate a representative organophosphates. exact mechanism is still elusive, but it unambiguously that no selective oxidation toxic oxo-analog occurs. presented results can help develop novel systems irreversible conversion non-toxic compounds, without aggressive agents or external physical factors like UV radiation.

Dye removal from water by zinc ferrite-graphene oxide nanocomposite

In this work, zinc ferrite magnetic and zinc ferrite-graphene oxide nanocomposite were synthesized through a facile hydrothermal method and dye removal capability as an adsorbent were studied. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy FT-IR, X-ray diffraction XRD and scanning electron microscopy SEM were used to characterize the synthesized nanocomposite. The UV-Vis results showed that the additi...

Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, Mucositis, or Something Else?

Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) has been described in the literature as a combination of erythematous blistering skin lesions covering <10% of body surface area and ≥1 mucous membrane erosion.1 SJS is usually triggered by a medication or infection. Infectious causes are more common in children, most notably herpes simplex virus (HSV) and Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Mucous membrane erosions without si...

Traumatic Diaphragmatic Hernia or Something Else?

Subcutaneous emphysema (SCE) mimicking diaphragmatic hernia on X-ray is hitherto unreported and this case has been presented with the aim to alert the clinician about this unusual presentation of SCE to avert undue panic and initiate appropriate evaluation and management. This case also reemphasizes the importance of a thorough clinical examination, which probably could have revealed the subcut...
